Echoes of Kingston Tour

Echoes of Kingston Tour FlyerTHE SKATALITES BAND are ready to take Ska into the new century just as they did in the past. The current members of the band are focused on making the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence, the 48th year of the band and the anniversary of the creation of Ska music intersect in a way that only the founders, the originators and a true creative force for the music of Jamaica, the Reggae that has taken over the world, can.

To that end they have relaunched their website, are in the final stages of preparing a new collection of original tunes to share with their fans around the world and are quickly putting the final touches on a tour that will take them all over the world in 2012.

The first leg of that plan starts Friday March 30 in Houton, TX. The tour, called The Echoes of Kingston tour, will head north to New Mexico and Colorado, then head west to Arizona, Mexico, California, Seattle, Washington into Canada and back again to finish at the Viva Ska Vegas event in Las Vegas featuring a collection of modern bands playing their distinctive brand of Ska, which the Skatalites, who are headlining, were a big influence on.

Along the way they will play with some of the best young bands the west has to offer such as Keysor Soze, Los Skarnales, The Sentiments, The Georgetown Orbits and more. Joining the band on most of the AZ-CA portion will be Los Angeles’ leading proponents of ska & reggae, The Delirians. The band has been forging a sound rooted in the past, yet distinctly their own having backed and performed with legends such as Derrick Morgan, The Melodians, Derrick Harriot, Stranger Cole and more.

The tour will also include support on certain dates from some true legends such as one of the original Studio One songstresses Norma Fraser and son of legendary hit-maker Toots Hibbert of the Maytals Junor Toots. It’s an all-star tour not to be missed for sure!
